Black Sheep Farms is a chemical-free urban farm operated by Brian and Kelly Smith. We are sometimes assisted by our three boys, Sam, Jack and Comet.
Black Sheep Farms grows heirloom vegetables and specialty cut flowers in Omaha, NE. We started our farming adventure on a 76-acre farm in Bennington, NE before returning to the city. We also grow directly for The Grey Plume, which has the distinction of being the “greenest restaurant in America.”
Brian consults on farm projects and contributes articles to periodicals and speaks about local food issues, starting a farm and marketing farms. Clients have included National Council of Agricultural Finance Programs, The Nature Conservancy, chapters of The Sierra Club and Slow Food groups. He is an advisor for Edible Omaha.
