My Mind is Racing

This time of year, my mindset changes from DOING to PLANNING.  I have to admit that I like planning more, but, I swear, I’m getting better at doing.

Right now, we’re planning for our 2009 season.  Our intention is to continue with the Village Pointe Farmers Market and add a small CSA.  I’m sure that we could easily sell 50 shares, but we don’t want to get in over our heads.  We want to do this the right way.  Interested in the CSA?  Let me know.

So, right now, my head is swimming with the possible crops we can grow, the poultry, the schedule… all kinds of things.  Spring’s potential is already alive in my mind.  Funny thing, it hasn’t even snowed yet.

I’ve been reading a lot more, too.  Of course, most of it is farming material, so I’m studying the Steffen Farm Library.  We inherited some books that are already changing and challenging my ideas.

I almost forgot!  Kelly and I have each driven our big International tractor!  Kelly got “official training,” and I rode along.  Last week, I transported a half bale of straw over to the artichokes and garlic patches.  It was incredibly nice to not make 16 trips with a small cart.

More Black Sheep Farms news soon.  By the way, since the holidays are approaching, consider getting some BSF shirts for the holidays.  They’re made in the USA from organic cotton.
